MGV Introduces New CPCI Power Supply for CPCI-mini-systems
There is a trend towards CompactPCI systems requiring power of up to 70 watts. Most of these systems are 3U constructions, meanwhile reduced to two supply voltages, namely 5V and 3.3V, and designed increasingly for alternative wallmount design.

MGV Stromversorgungen in Munich has developed an 8HP-wide (two-slot), dual-model power supply, the P2070, offering two different types of power feed. In the case of the P2070F model, the 120 or 230VAC mains current is fed in via an IEC320/C5 cold ("Mickey Mouse") connector installed on the front, while the P2070 offers a familiar backplan 24/8-channel M-socket strip.

The appliance switches automatically between 120V and 230V input voltages. In terms of output, the module supplies 5.1V at 8A and 3.3V at 10A.

The power supply is designed for use under free (heat) convection conditions, needing no forced cooling as is usually the case with CPCI power supplies. It operates at temperatures ranging from -25° to +70° C (derating 2%/K from 50° C).

The following electronic safeguards protect both the power supply itself and connected appliances.
• Mains overvoltage cut-off
• Thermal cut-off
• Output overcurrent limit
• Output overvoltage limit (second regulation loop)

In the course of this year, three further 70W feeds will be following in the form of a DG2070 range with DC input, 8.5 -18VDC and 18 - 36VDC, the latter also offering front and backplan inputs.
