Mu Dynamics appoints Dave Kresse CEO

Sunnyvale, Calif. – October 23, 2007 – Mu Security announced that Dave Kresse has joined the company as chief executive officer, and Kris Nagel has been appointed to the position of vice president of worldwide sales.

Kresse, 39, was previously vice president and general manager of the storage management and application integration business unit at NetApp where he led the company’s rapidly growing application integration and data/storage management software business.

In his new role, reporting to Kresse, Nagel joins Mu from SS8 Networks and is responsible for developing and directing worldwide sales strategies and managing operations for direct and inside sales.

Mu Security Co-founder and former CEO Ajit Sancheti becomes the company’s vice president of business development.

“We are pleased to welcome Dave and Kris on board,” said Sancheti. “The timing couldn’t be better as we experience accelerating global market demand for the Mu-4000 Security Analyzer. Since our early 2006 announcement of Mu-4000 appliance availability, Mu Security has gained significant traction with dozens of customers, including leading service providers, network equipment manufacturers, and critical infrastructure vendors. With a complete management team, Mu now has the ability to scale to meet the needs of this growing customer base.”

Kresse’s expertise centers on accelerating customer product acceptance and resulting revenue as evidenced by over 50 percent revenue growth his business unit realized over the past two years.

His experience also includes leading global teams across product management, engineering, marketing, sales, and support. He also played a pivotal role in the development of corporate strategy and positioning. Prior to running the Storage Management and Application Integration (SMAI) business unit, Kresse was general manager of the Content Delivery Business Unit at NetApp, a business that focused on selling gateway security solutions to enterprise and service provider customers. Prior to joining NetApp, Kresse led product marketing at Leapfrog Enterprises, where he managed the development and introduction of eight new product lines. Previously he was part of the executive team at PowerSchool, Inc. (acquired by Apple Computer), growing its revenue and customer base nearly 10-fold over a two year period. Kresse has also served as a case team leader and consultant at Bain & Company, a strategy consulting firm.

Nagel, 40, has 20 years of sales and sales management experience, providing organizational leadership in the software and telecommunications industries. Prior to joining Mu Security he was vice president of sales at SS8 Networks where his responsibilities included overall management of the global sales force and channel partners. Prior to SS8 Networks, Nagel was vice president of sales at Traverse Networks and Responsys, Inc. Earlier he was at Portal Software where he held positions of increasing importance in sales management, culminating in his appointment as vice president and general manager of the Americas.

“In Mu’s two years of product development and subsequent shipment, the company’s innovation has changed the security landscape. Mu has successfully defined a new security analyzer market in a time when enterprises and service providers are more reliant than ever on their networks to support mission critical applications,” Kresse said. “It’s also exciting to join a company whose co-founders, Ajit Sancheti and Kowsik Guruswamy, were involved with another industry first—intrusion detection and prevention systems. Their experiences combined with a first-rate engineering and management team goes a long way to explaining why the Mu-4000 Security Analyzer is experiencing rapid user adoption and delivering reduced downtime for such a marquee set of initial customers”

Kresse holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in human biology from Stanford University and a Master of Business Administration degree with distinction from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. Nagel holds a Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems from Pennsylvania State University and a Master of Business Administration from California State University.
