March 16, 2004 – National Instruments, a leader in automated test software and modular instrumentation hardware, today announced a series of 12 free Automated Test Summit events throughout North America from March to June 2004. Six leading suppliers of automated test equipment joined NI to develop the summit, which features industry experts from Flextronics Test, JTAG Technologies, SigmaQuest, Tektronix, Thermotron and Virginia Panel Corp. The summit offers attendees access to industry experts and the opportunity to learn how leading corporations increase return on capital through improved automated test methods.

“In working with test directors, engineers and senior managers from leading electronics manufacturers, NI learned of the key challenges they face,” said Richard McDonell, automated test software product manager for NI. “We worked closely with leading automated test equipment suppliers to develop the Automated Test Summit, which presents the latest test strategies and technologies that address these challenges. The summit helps attendees improve the use of their existing test equipment and increase the effective lifetime of their automated test systems.”

Through the one-day events, engineers and managers can learn about the latest automated test technologies, strategies and techniques through sessions targeted for design, validation and manufacturing test. The events feature technical training and demonstrations, as well as industry experts, product developers and system integrators who can answer attendee questions and provide real-world system expertise.

Topics addressed in the events include:
· Industry Trends, Challenges and Roadmaps
· Redeploying Existing Test Equipment and Applications
· Minimizing Cycle Times with a Modular Test System Architecture
· Improving Quality with Product Performance Monitoring
· Optimizing Test Throughput with Parallel Testing and Synchronized Measurements
