OSI to provide Distribution Management System to CoServ Electric
September 11, 2015 - Open Systems International (OSI) has been selected by CoServ Electric of Texas to supply an advanced new Distribution Management System (DMS) for the electric cooperative's members, based on OSI's Monarch (Multi-platformOpen Network ARCHitecture) platform.
CoServ Electric is the second largest distribution cooperative in Texas and provides power to more than 165,000 electric members in North Texas. CoServ continues to experience rapid growth as thousands of new residential and commercial customers are connected every year. To help meet the demands of this growth, CoServ has been expanding and upgrading its infrastructure. The implementation of the new OSI SCADA/DMS system is part of CoServ's efforts to enhance its Operation Technology (OT) infrastructure to meet the needs of the modern grid.
CoServ Electric's new OSI Distribution Management System includes advanced SCADA functionality, as well as Geographic Information System Interface; Distribution Network Operating Model; Fault Isolation/System Restoration; Distribution Power Flow; Feeder Reconfiguration; Volt/VAR Control; and Conservation Voltage Reduction software products.
"As part of our effort to continually improve service to our members, we are implementing advanced technologies such as automated Volt/VAR Control," said Robby Hamlin at CoServ. "OSI's DMS gives us the modern real-time platform we need to implement these technologies as well as future advanced applications."
"CoServ is a leader in providing safe and reliable energy solutions," said Hormoz Kazemzadeh, VP of Distribution and Smart Grid at OSI. "We are happy to see that our SCADA centric ADMS solution continues to resonate with high performing utilities such as CoServ."
OSI provides open, state-of-the-art and high-performance automation solutions to utilities worldwide. These solutions include Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, Network Management Systems (NMS), Energy Management Systems (EMS), Distribution Management Systems (DMS), Outage Management Systems (OMS), Generation Management Systems (GMS), Substation Automation Systems (SA); and Smart Grid solutions for utility operations. OSI is headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA.
