Rockwell Automation and Texas State Technical College Align to Provide Enhanced Delivery of Technical Training for Texas Manufacturers

Cooperative, certified training program will further Texas’ economic development, resulting in increased productivity and greater returns on technology investment

MILWAUKEE, Dec. 19, 2002 — Employees of Texas manufacturers will have greater access to technical training through a collaborative alliance announced today by complete automation leader Rockwell Automation (NYSE: ROK) and Texas State Technical Colleges (TSTC). Under the agreement, TSTC will be the exclusive, Rockwell Automation-authorized, certified training delivery partner in Texas providing courses in programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and small logic controllers (SLCs) for the manufacturing industry.

“This is a very complementary alliance between our two organizations,” said Dr. Bill Segura, Chancellor, TSTC System. “Rockwell Automation and TSTC will help improve Texas’ economic development by providing Texas-based manufacturers greater access to training that will ultimately result in their employees being more technically proficient and productive. And, when that happens, everyone wins.”

Currently, the courses are offered at the Abilene, Dallas, El Paso, Harlingen, Richmond, San Antonio and Sweetwater campuses, where Rockwell Automation has certified a core group of TSTC instructors and facilities in order to meet Rockwell Automation stringent quality standards and market the training. Both organizations will share training facilities, instructors, and equipment.
“Manufacturers whose employees require training on our devices will now have convenient, regional access to our training through the TSTC System,” said Russell Allen, Manager of Global Business Development and Marketing, Rockwell Automation. “Additionally, our Allen-Bradley authorized distributors remain an equal partner in this venture, as they will continue to provide the ‘reseller’ capability that our customers are accustomed to.”

To ensure the success of the venture, Rockwell Automation has donated PLC and SLC training simulators valued at $400,000 to TSTC.
Rockwell Automation and TSTC will assess the opportunity to develop future industrial training based on the success of this program.
