Rockwell Automation Upgrades PanelView 1000 Grayscale Terminals with Brighter LCD Display
MILWAUKEE, October 16, 2003 Plant floor engineers seeking an affordable display suitable for brighter ambient light applications now have a new cost-effective option from Rockwell Automation. The Allen-Bradley® PanelView 1000 grayscale operator interface terminal features a new display that provides an easier-to-read, sharper, more vibrant screen and a longer-lasting, field-replaceable backlight. This new display is ideal for users looking for an easy-to-read large-form-factor display without the added expense of color.
The display in the PanelView 1000 grayscale terminal sharpens contrast and makes the display easier to read, even in brighter light, when compared to the display used previously. It is designed as a drop-in replacement for the old PanelView 1000 grayscale terminal with virtually no additional programming or configuration. Although the visual difference is significant, there are no changes in terms of setup or operation for the user, said Clark Kromenaker, product marketing manager, Rockwell Automation. Programs and configurations developed for other PanelView 1000 terminals easily port over to the newer, brighter model with no additional effort.
The PanelView 1000 grayscales high contrast ratio of 300:1 makes this display an excellent choice for brighter ambient light applications, such as environments using halogen or fluorescent lights. It uses the same PanelBuilder32 development software as the full family of PanelView Standard Terminals, which helps keep training and development costs at a minimum.
The previous PanelView 1000 grayscale terminal model featured an amber-colored electroluminescent (EL) display state-of-the-art when the unit was first introduced. Recent display technology advances now allow for a better display image in a unit thats easier to maintain. To help reduce total cost of ownership, the new display features a long-life, field-replaceable backlight one that lasts twice as long as the old EL display.
The PanelView 1000 grayscale terminal is available immediately.
