RuggedCom Introduces RuggedSwitch™ RS900, a 9-Port Industrially Hardened Ethernet Switch
The RuggedSwitch™ RS900 is a 9-Port, industrially hardened, fully managed,
Ethernet switch specifically designed to operate reliably in electrically harsh
and climatically demanding industrial environments. The RS900's superior
ruggedized design coupled with the RS900's RuggedSwitch™ Operating System (ROS) provides improved system reliability and advanced networking features making it ideally suited for creating Ethernet networks for mission-critical, real-time, control applications.

The RS900 provides dual 100Mbps fiber optical Ethernet ports for creating a
fiber optical backbone with high noise immunity and long haul connectivity. The
RS900 also provides dual power inputs for backup power and is packaged in a rugged steel enclosure that can be DIN rail or panel mounted.

Designed for harsh industrial environments in accordance with:

  • NEMA TS 2 (Traffic Control Equipment)

  • IEC 61850-3 (Electric power substations - International)

    Zero-packet-loss™ technology under EMI stress!
  • “No communications packets are lost during application of EMI type tests”

    Extended Temperature range: (-40 to 85°C)
  • "No rotating mechanical parts (i.e. No Fans!) ensuring the highest reliability

    Advanced Management functions for real-time control:
  • IEEE 802.1w – Rapid Spanning Tree for fault tolerant loop architectures
  • IEEE 802.1p – Priority Queuing for high priority real-time control messages
  • IEEE 802.1Q – VLAN (Virtual LAN) for isolating real-time traffic
  • IGMP and GMRP – Multicast message filtering (snooping).
