Sepro America Moves to Larger Facility

January 27, 2014 - Sepro America, LLC, has moved to a new building that is nearly double the size of its previous space. The new building is located in Warrendale, PA, a little more than 10 miles from their previous location in Emsworth. Both cities are suburbs of Pittsburgh.

At its former location, Sepro America had a total of 9150 sq. ft, while the new building is 16,500 sq. ft., including a large “workshop” area, which encompasses assembly, testing and warehouse space. Office space has doubled in size to 6700 sq. ft., and there is an 800-sq.-ft. training room with 18-ft ceiling height so that it can accommodate even large robots.

Sepro offers automation equipment for plastics injection molding, including 3-, 5- and 6-axis servo robots with one universal control platform developed by Sepro especially for injection molders. Sepro has equipped more than 25,000 injection-molding machines worldwide and is the largest independent seller of Cartesian robots in Europe and the largest robot supplier to the automotive industry in Europe and the Americas.

The move was prompted, according to Jim Healy, Vice President, Sales & Marketing, by the recent double-digit growth of the company and the desire to provide customers with enhanced capabilities in training and application development. 

“This new facility gives us everything we need to serve our customers more effectively,” Healy says. “After several years of expansion – in both robot sales and in employment numbers – we really needed a bigger, better space. Now we have much more office area, more training and conference room, as well as increased square footage for robot and tooling assembly, customer run-offs and equipment inventory.”

RECORD SALES IN 2013
Healy says that 2013 has been an all-time record sales year, with orders projected to outpace 2012 by some 34% increase over 2012 and double 2011 sales. In the last 5 years, North America has gone from being Sepro’s #3 global market to the #1 position, accounting for almost a quarter of company sales. Healy says a large portion of this growth has come on the West Coast, where 2013 sales levels are three times what they were just a year ago, when Sepro named Paul Rudzinski as regional sales manager there.

In addition to wider sales coverage, which also includes appointment of Lorne Burke as east-coast regional sales manager, Healy points to an expanded product line, close ties with many injection-molding machine OEMs and a higher overall profile in the market as the drivers behind the recent growth. The company has also expanded its field service staffing, in California, for example, and added in-house engineering personnel. The company now employs nearly 30 (up from 20 in 2011) and anticipates adding at least two more positions during 2014.
