Ship2Save supports BizTalk RFID

December 8, 2008 - Ship2Save announced its strategic relationship with Microsoft and support for BizTalk RFID Standards Pack. Ship2Save RFID software solutions in conjunction with Microsoft’s BizTalk RFID, delivers design innovation to its customers at a lower cost of ownership (TCO).

Ship2Save has been adapting its RFID based solutions to a variety of business models and industries. “BizTalk RFID has permitted us to widen our market reach by enabling us to easily create and configure several unique applications using the same framework,” explains Amninder Singh, V-P of Products & Services at Ship2Save. “Additionally, BizTalk RFID Mobile facilitates our access into other areas that can benefit from RFID and that require mobility based solutions.“

The Ship2Save Operation Management System (S2S-OMS) is Ship2Save’s flagship product and is based solely on Microsoft technologies including BizTalk RFID. S2S-OMS has been utilized in mobility solutions for process improvements in supply chain management and asset tracking in the transportation/logistics, manufacturing, retail, consumer goods, natural resources, aerospace and automotive industries.

A recent Ship2Save customer, a large pet food manufacturer, benefited from such a system that allowed it to “encode and ship” its merchandise to its retail client without interrupting other processes. The solution required a mobile encoding station that utilized an RFID reader to write to and validate tagged boxes along changeable conveyor lines. Ship2Save’s S2S-OMS managed the hardware as well as the processes involved.

“Leveraging Microsoft’s BizTalk RFID Mobility and BizTalk RFID Standards Pack has allowed us to cut our lead time and pass on our cost savings to our customers,” adds Singh, V-P of Products & Services at Ship2Save. “For instance, it was essential for one of our clients to have their mobile RFID system up and running before their set deadline. With BizTalk in place, we had the time necessary to concentrate on designing the ideal system for our client in an otherwise tight timeframe.”

“RFID solution providers like Ship2Save are showing great agility in extending their expertise to BizTalk RFID Mobile,” says Paul Sanford, senior product manager for Microsoft Corp. “By working with insightful, customer driven partners we can emphasize not only that RFID is relevant to businesses of all sizes, but also in a variety of industries.”

Global economic woes are forcing all organizations across all industries to become leaner with cuts in staff and processes. This involuntary re-engineering will no doubt require a certain level of automation to compensate the lack of human interaction. Despite a decrease in investments in technological commodities directly associated to company reductions, like PCs, many organizations will likely find themselves adopting evolutionary technologies like RFID to stay ahead of the game.
