Siemens Exhibits At ISA 2003

August 282003
Process Solutions Businesses to showcase the Siemens integrated approach to Process Automation and Control

SPRING HOUSE, Pa., Aug. 29, 2003 — Siemens Energy & Automation will exhibit its wide offering of innovative solutions and products for the process industries at the 2003 ISA Show, in the Reliant Center, Houston, October 21-23. Siemens’ Process Solutions Division can be found in booth # 1949. Siemens will feature automation systems, instrumentation, analyzers, and software for process manufacturing. All process measurements are brought together by open, flexible process automation systems, including fully integrated safety systems, for continuous and batch operations.

Siemens’ solutions for specific applications within process manufacturing include chemical, pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, food, beverage, glass, and hydrocarbon processing.

Siemens Applied Automation offers a full range of analytical products as well as sales, service, training and complete systems integration. Products include: Maxum edition II Process Gas Chromatograph - the industry leading product used in all branches of the fine chemicals, fuels refining and hydrocarbon processing industries to perform chemical composition analysis of gases and liquids that are present in all phases of production. Advance Quantra - Fourier Transform - Ion Cyclotron Resonance Mass Spectrometry (FT-MS). Continuous Gas Analyzers, with unequaled analytical performance and maximum uptime. And introducing MicroSAM, the smallest on-line Process Gas Chromatograph specifically designed for hazardous environments.

New Texas regulations call for dramatic reduction of NOx and HR-VOC (Highly Reactive Volatile Organic Carbon) emissions. Effective and efficient solutions to HR-VOC monitoring will be demonstrated.

As a major supplier of instrumentation for the process industries, Siemens will present an overview of pressure, temperature, and level and flow instruments; controllers, recorders, and valve positioners. Highlighted will be Siemens expanded line of quality flow meters including coriolis, ultrasonic and magnetic-inductive models suited for various applications across the process industries. Siemens will also introduce the new SITRANS LR200, two-wire radar transmitter, a cost-effective level measurement solution for liquid bulk storage or simple process vessels. Ideally suited for chemical plants and tank farms, it offers many new features that make it simple and easy to operate and install. All of these instruments can be found in virtually every type of process plant around the globe.

A world leader in manufacturing automation, Siemens brings its innovation and expertise to process automation, as well. SIMATIC PCS 7 uses modern design and flexible architecture to provide cost-effective operation throughout all plant life cycles, from planning and engineering through operation, including future expansions. Part of Siemens Totally Integrated Automation architecture, PCS 7 is capable of integrating automation systems with business systems throughout an entire process plant or mill. Siemens process automation systems offer proven reliability together with seamlessly integrated continuous control, batch control, and safety shutdown. The Siemens Safety PLC provides cost-effective emergency shutdown, either fully integrated with Siemens Process Automation systems or as a stand-alone product. Siemens is one of the few automation suppliers offering fully integrated safety and control in its process automation system.

In addition Siemens will also display its process automation and control expertise in the Profibus Trade Organization booth #1917. In the PTO booth, visitors will see the high-speed communications capability of Siemens products using Profibus-PA. This exhibit will also demonstrate the flexibility of both the PCS 7 system and Profibus to integrate both process and discrete manufacturing applications within a single plant.
