Siemens WIns New Business at Two Baker Petrolite Plants

ALPHARETTA, Ga., Oct. 8, 2002 - Siemens Energy & Automation, Inc., today announced that it has received orders from the Baker Petrolite business unit of Baker Hughes Incorporated of Houston, Texas, to provide automation, electrical infrastructure and services at facilities in California and Oklahoma.

Baker Petrolite (BPC) is a world leader in providing chemical technology solutions to the global hydrocarbon recovery and processing industries. BPC's customers are in the refining, steel, utilities, agriculture, adhesives, plastics processing, paints and coatings, and oilfield chemicals businesses.

Siemens will provide process control, instrumentation and electrical
switchgear for Baker Petrolite's new Taft manufacturing plant being built near Bakersfield, CA, the company's first. Included with the APACS + DCS are specific analyzers that make up a combination continuous process automation and safety systems covering 1000 distributed I/O. Baker Petrolite's plant in Sand Springs, OK, will receive an APACS+ process automation system to manage batch processing at the plant.
