LAKE FOREST, Calif., March 5, 2004 -- Rob Harvan, senior editor at World Refining magazine, will be the keynote speaker at SimSci-Esscor's international user group meeting to be held March 15-17 in Laguna Beach, Calif.

The annual conference focuses on topics and technical issues related to simulation, advanced control and optimization, plant lifecycle management, operator training simulation, control system check-out and dynamic simulation solutions. The event will feature case study and technical sessions led by senior company managers from the refining and petrochemical industries.

"The user group meeting is designed to provide our global customers with an outlet to share their experiences with us as well as other companies facing the same challenges at their plants," said Ken Brown, SimSci-Esscor's vice president and general manager. "The meeting also serves as an opportunity for companies to learn more about new technologies and solutions for the industrial simulation applications."

World Refining's Harvan will lead the conference with his keynote speech on "Refining in the Post-Modern Age." Also presenting will be Apostolos Georgiou, director of the advanced control and optimization section of ExxonMobil Research & Engineering Co. located in Fairfax, Va.
