Verano Signs New Systems Integrator in Lithuania

Verano’s Real-Time Application Platform (RTAP) Provides FIMA with Flexibility and Responsiveness for Managing Large, Complex Industrial Operations

MANSFIELD, Mass., April 25, 2006—Verano, Inc., the leading provider of security and SCADA solutions for mission-critical industries, today announced that FIMA, Lithuania’s leading systems integrator specializing in power, transportation and security, has selected Verano’s Real-Time Application Platform (RTAP) as its SCADA platform of choice.

RTAP is a proven supervisory control platform running in thousands of installations worldwide, including companies such as British Energy, California Water Service Company, Enbridge Pipelines, RWE and Shell. From systems that manage the world’s longest petroleum liquid and natural gas pipelines, to one that automates the distribution of drinking water to more than six million people in London, RTAP is an industrial-strength automation solution for critical infrastructure with high-speed, high-volume processes.

Supporting more than half of the largest Lithuanian companies, FIMA was in need of a solution that would monitor and control large and vastly complex real-time applications. The availability and reliability of intricate control applications such as those found in airports, electricity grids and power generators, border control, government buildings, and railways are crucial to the operation of Lithuanian business and society. Partnering with Verano to implement RTAP as its SCADA platform enables FIMA to offer a one-stop solution, providing its customers with increased flexibility, scalability and management responsiveness.

“We selected Verano’s RTAP platform because it is one of the only SCADA platforms offered on Linux, providing powerful and scalable control with the benefits of lower cost hardware,” said Dr. Vladas Liuolia, eAutomation department director of FIMA. “By adding Verano’s advanced, real-time development platform capabilities to our array of products, we can better meet our customers' increasing demands for greater flexibility and responsiveness in managing large, complex industrial operations. It will not only improve their ability to manage operations in real-time, but also coordinate them with market demands and improve visibility of key performance indicators.”

FIMA, established in 1992, is an official partner of well-known companies, including Avaya, Bosch, HP, IBM, Lucent Technologies and Philips. It is also one of the select companies permitted to vie for the contracts tendered by NATO.

“Together, FIMA and Verano are helping utility, transportation and industrial companies manage operations more easily and increase their return on capital assets associated with those operations,” said Brian Ahern, president and CEO of Verano, Inc. “Our relationship with FIMA is the first of many to come for Verano to help address customer demands in emerging countries that are investing in mission-critical infrastructure.”
