World's Leading Process Automation Event Joins World's Largest Production Automation Fair

October 172003
INTERKAMA+ to take place under the umbrella of the HANNOVER FAIR

Princeton, NJ-The management of Deutsche Messe AG, producers of the world-renown HANNOVER FAIR for industrial automation and technology, have announced the incorporation of INTERKAMA, the world's leading process automation event, into the 2004 HANNOVER FAIR's industry sector line-up. INTERKAMA had been previously located at the Düsseldorf fairgrounds.

The event is now designated INTERKAMA+; the plus sign signifying the appreciable added value which INTERKAMA now offers its exhibitors and attendees by virtue of its powerful alliance with HANNOVER FAIR, particularly its FACTORY AUTOMATION sector. This means that there will be a complete array of industrial automation (process and production automation) on show at a single venue. Visiting trade professionals from around the world will now be treated to the entire value-added process chain, including all the innovations in the automation sector, with a special eye towards integrated solutions and total systems.

Additionally, the HANNOVER FAIR's show-within-a-show concept will benefit the visiting trade members more than ever before, generating some very powerful synergies. Besides INTERKAMA+ and FACTORY AUTOMATION, the roster of concurrent and co-located world-class trade shows includes: Energy, Subcontracting, Surface Technology, MicroTechnology and Research & Technology. A further highlight is the new DIGITAL FACTORY sector, which showcases industrial software and IT solutions.

According to Sepp D. Heckmann, member of the Managing Board of Deutsche Messe AG, "The year 2004 will see INTERKAMA+ gaining strength, but without giving up its own distinct profile." The INTERKAMA+ exhibition program will service the entire spectrum of process automation, including Automation and IT Solutions; Control Systems; Field Devices & Components; and Engineering, Maintenance & Services.

A further highlight of INTERKAMA+ will be the INTERKAMA+ FORUM, where emphasis will be placed on the exchange of information and recent developments in automation. The FORUM will feature high-calibre international speakers presenting over 30 topical lectures as well as lively debates and interesting panel discussions among leading industry experts with simultaneous translation in English and German. The FORUM is centrally located on the fairgrounds so exhibitors and attendees can benefit from this additional source of information without having to leave the exhibition area.

The organizers are expecting some 800 international exhibitors to occupy an estimated 30,000m2 (323,000 sq. ft.) at INTERKAMA+, which will take in six of the planned 25 active halls during HANNOVER FAIR. INTERKAMA is anticipated to attract some 40,000 professional visitors, consisting of specialists from 16 different branches of the process automation industry-primarily from the chemical, pharmaceutical and petrochemical industries. Overall, the HANNOVER FAIR is expected to attract some 200,000 professional visitors and 3,500 members of the media to more than 6,000 exhibiting companies filling approximately 200,000 m2 (2,150,000 sq. ft.) of display space.

INTERKAMA+/HANNOVER FAIR take place 19-24 April 2004 at the world's largest trade show facility in Hannover, Germany.

INTERKAMA+ is the flagship of a family of INTERKAMA events being organized by Deutsche Messe AG and Messe Düsseldorf. This family presently includes INTERKAMA shows in China and India. INTERKAMA India, just concluded in Hyderabad 24-27 September, attracted 7,300 business visitors from 21 countries to view the displays of 137 exhibiting companies, quickly establishing this event as the leading platform for automation and integrated solutions for the biotechnology, pharmaceutical and chemical industries on the Indian subcontinent.
