Bestobell to supply cryogenic valves to Wärtsilä Gas Power Systems

May 13, 2013 - Bestobell to supply cryogenic valves to Wärtsilä Gas Power Systems' LNGPac fuel system. Wärtsilä is a provider of gas power solutions for the marine and energy markets, which is headquartered in Finland.

Bestobell LNG cryogenic valves are specifically designed for marine applications, which includes the very important requirement for the valves to have firesafe properties, whereby all components must be able to withstand a minimum temperature of 925oC (as per the interim IGF code).

The relationship with Wartsila GPS will see Bestobell Valves supplying its valves on an ongoing basis to them, including for a number of major projects that Wärtsilä GPS have recently won this year.

Mark Henley, Managing Director of President Engineering Group, said: “It is very exciting to become a preferred supplier to Wärtsilä and it is a partnership which will bring major benefits for both parties.  Our technical expertise and support means we can be dedicated to working closely with Wärtsilä on its latest innovative projects to ensure the company receives the most efficient valve solution for these applications.”

The contracts include supplying LNG cryogenic valves for the fifth Harvey Gulf OSV, Harvey America, which has been ordered by Harvey Gulf International Marine, as part of the company’s ‘going green’ initiative. Bestobell has already delivered its valves for the previous four vessels and the total series may run to eight vessels.

In addition to this order Bestobell Valves will be supplying LNG cryogenic valves to Wartsila GPS for two more Offshore Support Vessels– one for Siem Offshore, which is being built at HellesØy Verft, Norway and the other project for RemØy Shipping, which will be constructed at Kleven Maritime also in Norway.

These are the first orders that Wärtsilä GPS has won for its LNGPac fuel system in the Norwegian offshore supply vessel market, with Bestobell Valves delivering the valves for both projects by June this year.

Bestobell Valves is a world-leader in the manufacture of LNG cryogenic valves, with over 50 years industrial gas experience and 15 years’ successfully supplying to LNG marine markets.  Bestobell’s Valves are widely used on LNG Carriers, FLNG (Floating Production & Storage Units) and FSRUs (Floating, Storage & Re-gasification Units).  The company designs and produces valves to meet specific requirements in the marine sector and has supplied cryogenic valves to a majority of the major shipyards building LNG Carriers.
