Emerson named main supplier for China's largest refinery
The Dushanzi project includes the construction of 20 refining process units and 12 petrochemical process units. The refinery will produce 10 million tons of oil per year, or 200,000 barrels per day. The petrochemical part of the project will produce 1.2 million tons of ethylene per year. Crude oil feedstock for the project will be transported via the Kazakhstan-China Crude Oil pipeline.
Dushanzi Petrochemical, a wholly owned subsidiary of PetroChina Co. Ltd., has invested about US$4 billion (RMB 30 billion Yuan) in the project.
Emerson will supply more than 25,000 Rosemount instruments, about 2,500 FIELDVUE DVC6000 HART smart positioners, and 2000 Fisher control valves, and more than 400 Micro Motion Coriolis meters. The project is scheduled for completion by the end of 2008.
"Emerson provides the multiple benefits of proven quality instrumentation products, reliable engineering consultation, superior service, extensive experience in the petrochemical industry, and a proven track record in China," says Liu Jufa, vice president, Dushanzi Petrochemcials.
"We are honored to be chosen as the main instrumentation supplier to China's largest integrated refinery and petrochemical project," said Mike Train, president of Emerson Process Management Asia-Pacific. "We look forward to working with Dushanzi to help them achieve the operating goals of this enormous integrated facility."
Emerson's Rosemount instruments are not only the world's most reliable measurement instruments; they also enable the implementation of best measurement practices that help optimize performance in every application. Rosemount instruments perform accurately and reliably under the most demanding conditions to provide a safer, more efficient plant environment.
As with all petrochemical projects, digital control is a major performance factor for the Dushanzi project. Emerson's FIELDVUE DVC6000 smart positioners supply a complete diagnostic function package to allow better management of the performance of control valves which are among the most critical devices in the plant. The high quality standards of Fisher valve products assure reliable performance and low fault rate to avoid unscheduled shutdowns and lower operating costs.
Micro Motion Coriolis technology from Emerson, ideal for a great number of gas and liquid applications, offers high accuracy measurement for a range of operating environments. While other measurement technologies may require additional pressure and temperature devices, a single Coriolis meter measures mass and density directly for improved efficiency and reliability in the process.
