IFS supplies ERP to Hydroelectric Power company in India

SCHAUMBURG, Ill., November 28, 2007 - National Hydroelectric Power Corporation Ltd., one of India's major power generation companies, has signed a contract worth over $7 million to implement IFS Applications. NHPC, with over 13,000 employees, plans to become a 20,000 megawatt (MW) company by 2017, and has chosen IFS Applications to support its processes within finance, project management, maintenance and operations, and business performance.

The contract covers five years, and represents the first major ERP initiative in the Hydro Power sector in India. The project titled "Project Kiran" will be implemented across all the project locations and the NHPC Corporate Office.

"The Indian National Hydroelectric Power Corporation joins a growing number of utilities worldwide in the IFS family," IFS North America Director of Business Development for Utilities Michael Blalock said. "IFS has always been strong in the utility sector in Europe and Asia, but in the last year has been gaining a following among utilities in the Americas, as well. Utility Corporations here are looking at the successes of other major utilities like Three Gorges Dam and Qinshan in China, TenneT in the Netherlands, and Vattenfall in Sweden and recognize that the serious asset management capabilities we provide in many of the most demanding applications in the world will also work for them."

IFS targets the energy and utilities industry and has more than 140 customers involved in power generation, transmission & distribution, and water & sewage. These include the world's largest hydropower plant, Three Gorges (P. R. China), nuclear power plants OKG (Sweden), PBMR (South Africa) and Qinshan (P. R. China), grid operators such as Svenska Kraftnät (Sweden), Statnett (Norway) and TenneT (The Netherlands) as well as distributors such as Vattenfall (Sweden), Fortum (Sweden), and Hafslund Energi (Norway). Reliable and safe asset management and workforce management are critical processes in the energy and utility industry, to which IFS has provided solutions for more than 20 years.
