Pavilion provides polymer control systems to Shanghai SECCO

Six Polymer Line Project Marks Largest Polymer Deployment in China

AUSTIN, Texas — February 7, 2007 — Pavilion Technologies announced an agreement with Shanghai SECCO Petrochemical Co. to deploy Pavilion’s Polymer Solution on six polymer lines at the company’s manufacturing facility in the Shanghai Chemical Industrial Park. Through this agreement, SECCO will deploy Pavilion’s extruder and reactor control applications to further increase production rates and enhance product quality to meet China’s growing market demands. This agreement further strengthens Pavilion’s leadership position in the polymer industry, raising its total number of deployments to more than 90 polymer lines.

As the second Chinese company to select Pavilion’s solutions, the SECCO project represents the first large-scale deployment of Pavilion’s Polymer Solution in China, and underscores Pavilion’s commitment to delivering model predictive control (MPC) technology to Chinese manufacturers. SECCO will deploy Pavilion’s control solutions on two Innovene polyethylene lines, one Innovene polypropylene line and three polystyrene lines. SECCO selected Pavilion following a thorough ValueFirst customer benefits study which estimated a substantial return on investment based on the following specific benefits:
  • Up to a four percent increase in production rate for polyolefins
  • Up to a 30 percent improvement in product quality in both polyolefin and polystyrene units

“We chose Pavilion due to their successful track record in polymers,” said Paul Bowdler, production director, Shanghai SECCO Petrochemical. “This, along with Pavilion’s ValueFirst customer satisfaction guarantee, ultimately provided us with the confidence we needed to move forward with this project.”

With more commercial applications than any other supplier, Pavilion Technologies is a recognized leader in delivering MPC technology to the polymer industry. Deployed on every major process technology and on all major catalyst types, Pavilion’s Polymer Solution has an unrivaled track record of superior performance. To date, Pavilion’s Polymer Solution has been adopted by more than 90 lines and more than 115 reactors worldwide.

“To meet market demands, Chinese manufacturers are continually striving to improve operational efficiencies and enhance product quality,” said Ralph Carter, CEO, Pavilion Technologies. “We are honored to work with leading Chinese manufacturers like SECCO to enhance their profitability.”
