Wonderware to supply EMI & MES to Chr. Hansen

April 5, 2009 - Wonderware, a business unit of Invensys, announced that Chr. Hansen, one of the world's leading producers of ingredients for food, pharmaceutical, nutritional and agricultural industries, has selected Wonderware software to manage operations at its facilities worldwide.

The Denmark-based company plans to deploy the Wonderware Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and Enterprise Manufacturing Intelligence (EMI) solutions. Leveraging the ArchestrA architecture, these solutions will enable Chr. Hansen to standardize on common technology that is scalable and configurable, offering a unique, incremental approach to operational improvements.

With ArchestrA technology, the company will be able to propagate its application across multiple manufacturing sites. Working in conjunction with ArchestrA technology, the Wonderware MES solution features a comprehensive set of applications designed for consistent and effective execution of operational activities, from product track and trace through enterprise integration. The Wonderware EMI solution features the ability to analyze its overall operational performance using simple, yet powerful data analysis and reporting tools.

"Wonderware will supply Chr. Hansen with tremendous advantages in overall productivity with the comprehensive benefits provided by its MES and EMI integrated solutions," said Christopher S. Ashworth, managing director for Wonderware Scandinavia. "With this agreement, Wonderware will address both the corporate IT requirements with a leading-edge technology platform as well as the users' require ments with our highly configurable MES and EMI applications."

Chr. Hansen plans to install the Wonderware solutions at its worldwide facilities located in Denmark, France, Germany and the U.S. The first implementation will begin in September 2009 at its plant in Avedøre, Denmark.

"Chr. Hansen chose Wonderware because the company offered overall the best technology solution," said Erik Borgensgaard, program manager at Chr. Hansen. "We were impressed with the combination of a strong IT platform and configurable MES/EMI application modules. Having the flexibility and adaptability to address new market requirements is something of great importance to Chr. Hansen, and the ArchestrA architecture enhances the solutions' features that help us achieve this goal.

"We expect that over time Wonderware technology will provide the best return on investment for Chr. Hansen. The biggest advantage will be that both SCADA/HMI and MES/EMI can be implemented using one common tool and system."
