Yokogawa to supply Exaquantum to Quinn Chemicals

April 25, 2008 - Yokogawa GMSC of Cowes, Isle of Wight, UK. Yokogawa announced the issuing of its 1,000th Exaquantum PIMS system for a 200M Euro chemical plant being constructed in Germany for Quinn Chemicals.

Quinn Chemicals, a subsidiary of the privately owned Quinn Group, is investing in a new world-scale MMA (Methyl Methacrylate) monomer production plant at Leuna, near Leipzig in eastern Germany. MMA is a basic material used in the production of many plastics. Production is due to begin in late 2010.

The project is being engineered by the solutions team at Yokogawa Germany and includes the provision of a Yokogawa CENTUM CS 3000 Distributed Control System (DCS) and Prosafe RS Plant Safety System. Advanced Process Control and Advanced Operator Assistance packages ExaPilot, ExaPlog, AAA-Suite and PRM are also being installed by Yokogawa.

The Exaquantum PIMS family of process products provide the core MES/MIS systems for Yokogawa and includes Exaquantum/Batch, Exaquantum/SER (Sequence of Events Recorder) and Exaspot (Process optimizer).

Nigel Bowden, MD of GMSC says “This order was won in the face of strong competition by Hans Thomes, Yokogawa Germany’s Key Account Manager, IA System Sales.”

Exaquantum has been chosen time and time again in Production Plants both large and small. Many customers have benefitted from Exaquantum’s advanced functionality combined standards based integration and close coupling with other Yokogawa solution packages.
