Michell Instruments upgrades Easidew I.S.dew-point transmitter

January 21, 2013 - Michell Instruments upgraded Easidew I.S. intrinsically safe dew-point transmitter with additional process connections and extended hazardous area certification.

The transmitter now has three process connection options: ¾” UNF, ⅝” UNF and G½” BSP. ¾” UNF is the industry standard process connection in the US, and the addition of this option makes the Easidew I.S. easy to retrofit in the US and US-influenced markets, such as the Middle East and South America. European customers similarly benefit from the G½” BSP connection, which is the standard connection across Europe. In addition, two new sample blocks for the ¾” UNF and G½” BSP threads are also available.

The Easidew I.S. now has certification from IECEx in addition to ATEX, FM and CSA. With this additional certification, the Easidew I.S. is suitable for use around the world in zones 0, 1 and 2. FM and CSA cover the US and Canadian markets, while ATEX and IECEx have global recognition, including the UK and EEC.

The Easidew I.S’s main benefit to customers is its wide measurement range of -100 to +20°C dew point with ±2°C accuracy. This means that one sensor can be kept in stock to cover all customer ranges, which is ideal for OEMs. Applications for the Easidew I.S dew-point transmitter include monitoring moisture in H2 generation, controlling moisture levels in pipeline transmission and moisture measurement in hazardous areas within the power generation industry.

All transmitters in the Easidew range use Michell’s advanced ceramic moisture sensor. This sensor is coupled with microprocessor-based measurement circuits to produce a calibrated unit which is fully interchangeable. Because the calibration data is stored within the transmitter, calibration service is carried out quickly and easily by replacing the transmitter. Michell also offer a sensor exchange program where customers place an order for a guaranteed, reconditioned sensor. When this arrives, they exchange it for the installed sensor which is returned to Michell, resulting in zero process downtime.

The transmitter is rugged enough to withstand tough industrial conditions: it has IP66 (NEMA4) environmental protection and is able to operate safely in pressures up to in 450 barg.
