Spurred by 10% compressor performance increase at one site, e-fficiency(R)is identified as best-in-class technology for subsequent sites.TEESSIDE, UK (April 16, 2003) - Emerson Process Management's mechanical and process equipment performance monitoring solution, e-fficiency(R), has been selected by Amerada Hess as the proven choice to provide accurate and timely information on the performance of process equipment.e-fficiency has been used on Amerada Hess's Triton Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) operating vessel for the last two years. Here, e-fficiency identified degraded performance on a compressor that, following maintenance activity, increased performance by over 10%. In addition, italso detected faulty instrumentation, responsible for lost production on acompressor train.e-fficiency will be used by maintenance personnel on an additional Amerada Hess facility, called the Scott platform, to track the performance of centrifugal compressors, to enable maximum performance gains, and to foresee any need for preventive maintenance. Amerada Hess is driving for production increases on the Scott platform, the largest oil and gas field to come on stream within the UK sector of the North Sea within the last decade. Thecompany expects production from this field, and the neighboring Telford field, to produce the equivalent of 7% of UK oil requirements."Having seen the capabilities of this tool on the FPSO, this contract demonstrates that e-fficiency is our preferred choice for performance monitoring on North Sea assets," said Martyn Campbell, Amerada Hess seniormaintenance engineer for the Scott platform. "Our objective is to improveoperational performance, by applying best-in-class technology, to maintain production and reduce the possibility of downtime. Therefore, it is beneficial to standardize on a proven tool, when it comes to selecting a system to provide accurate and timely information on the performance of our process equipment.""Our challenge is to exceed our customers' expectations. The way e-fficiency is being adopted by world-class organizations as their preferred choice for performance monitoring, I'm confident that we are meeting that challenge," said Craig Llewellyn, president of the Asset Optimization division of Emerson Process Management.Emerson's Asset Optimization offering combines services and technologies toimprove availability and performance of production assets.
