Interroll Develops New Square Shaft Unit To Fit Standard Modular Belts

WILMINGTON, N.C. (February 5, 2004) – Interroll Corporation has reengineered its belt drive design to provide a new square shaft unit for modular belt applications. The 138EMB consists of a 60 mm x 60 mm solid stainless steel square shaft extension that fits standard modular belt sprockets, which can be easily installed on the shaft without extra tooling or modification. “This innovation eliminates the need for expensive custom versions to fit modular belt applications. Interroll developed this product to save time and cost by accommodating standard sprockets available in the marketplace,” said Steve Hankey, Interroll’s Belt Drive Product Manager. The compact, hygienic stainless steel design is protected to IP66/67 standards making it ideal for food processing applications including fish, meat, poultry, vegetables, bakery goods, and beverages. The 138EMB delivers up to 0.5 HP and can drive modular belts for conveying, positioning, drying, wash-down, and frosting processes. Available roller lengths are 17.71² to 47.24² (450 mm to 1200 mm). This stainless steel belt drive works with standard sprockets of all major suppliers and is powered by a 230/460 V, 60 Hz, 3-phase AC motor. Customers may choose either a standard cable or terminal box for the electrical connection.
