IXXAT offers a comprehensive range of topology components for CAN, including repeaters and bridges as well as gateways for RS232 and E-thernet. In addition to the usual bus structure for CAN, it is also possible to implement star and tree struc-tures with repeater components. The segments coupled via the repeater are galvanically decoup-led. Because defective segments are automati-cally disconnected, the use of the repeater en-sures the correct functioning of the remaining segments. For use in environments with high levels of elec-tromagnetic interference, IXXAT offers an FO repeater and an FO star coupler. These enable CAN systems to be constructed with the aid of glass or plastic optical fibers. With the CANbridge, CAN systems of different types can be coupled. It is possible to use differ-ent baudrates and to couple high- and low-speed CAN systems in this way. The store-forward prin-ciple allows filtering and translation of messages. By connecting two CAN networks via the CAN-bridge, it is possible to extend the overall network length. With the gateway modules for RS232 and Ether-net it is possible to couple CAN systems with other bus systems. "CANlink II", for example, enables devices with a serial port to be con-nected to CAN and CANopen networks. Due to its simple, open Ethernet protocol, "CAN@net" can be used both as a universal Ethernet/CAN interface and as a gateway for connecting CAN systems via Ethernet.
