Engineered for reading challenging low contrast 1D and 2D symbolsApril, 2004 - Renton, Wash.: The MS-Q series of hand held imagers is designed for the hand held user who needs to read challenging low contrast 1D and 2D codes in warehousing environments. Using patented optics and software, the MS-Q imagers specialize in reading low contrast bar codes marked on a variety of packaging materials under changing lighting conditions. Common applications include reading linear and PDF417 bar codes such as those used in the shipping labels required in the automotive supply chain. The new MS-Q is not just another portable 2D imager, commented Matt Allen, Microscan product marketing manager. Bluetooth wireless technology and aggressive reading capabilities enable the MS-Q to read challenging codes at all stages of the manufacturing process. The MS-Q reads bar codes on boxes in receiving when components and parts enter the facility. They read the low contrast 2D codes on the parts themselves in stockroom facilities for inventory control and again on the production lines. Once the product is packaged and ready for shipping, the MS-Q reads the bar codes used to ensure accuracy throughout the post-packaging and shipping process. The unique features set of the MS-Q enables it to perform in the receiving and shipping warehouses, as well as on the production lines. Both the standard and the industrial MS-Q imagers are available in 3 different configurations: cabled, batch, and cordless. The cordless version uses Bluetooth technology with a range of up to 300 feet and 20 inch optical read range. The cabled imager offers USB or RS-232 (serial) connections. The batch unit features a 1300 milliamp Lithium-ion battery and 8 MB of non-volatile memory, outperforming other devices. __________________________Founded in 1982, Microscan was the first company to successfully integrate a laser diode into a scanner.
