Asset management program helps manufacturers reduce MRO expenses and optimize processesMILWAUKEE, June 28, 2004 - In the first two quarters of its fiscal year Rockwell Automation has signed 14 agreements with major manufacturers including Alcoa, Owens Corning and Robert Bosch Corporation to manage the maintenance repair and operations (MRO) assets at designated customer sites. With the addition of 14 single- and multisite accounts, the Rockwell Automation Asset Management Program (RAAMP) is now implemented in a total of 114 sites located throughout the United States, Canada, United Kingdom and Germany. The RAAMP program allows Rockwell Automation to customize MRO strategies for each customer, helping manufacturers to improve inventory accuracy and accelerate part repairs. Better management of plant assets results in lower MRO expenses and maximizes investments and overall return on net assets. "The continued growth of Rockwell Automation's MRO asset management program underscores the ongoing pressure placed on manufacturers to improve total operating efficiency and profitability," said Mike Laszkiewicz, vice president, Asset Management Business, Rockwell Automation. "We've found that it's not uncommon for manufacturers of any size to realize ROI in less than a year, or for large organizations to save anywhere from $1 to $1.5 million in reduced MRO expenses during the first year of the RAAMP engagements." Significant cost savings are realized through the tracking of repairable assets, which streamlines parts inventory, improves maintenance reliability, compiles performance data on equipment and recuperates lost warranty dollars. RAAMP provides companies with a customized outsourcing capability that streamlines asset management and inventory functions, enabling companies to reduce expenses and achieve greater overall profitability.
