Emerson Announces Initiative to Expand in Growing LNG Segment of Hydrocarbon Industry

AUSTIN, TEXAS (September 28, 2004) – Emerson Process Management has announced the appointment of Mark Kennedy as director of business development for Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG). Kennedy will lead Emerson’s initiative to expand delivery of process solutions for the growing LNG segment of the hydrocarbon industry. Kennedy will build from a strong base, as Emerson has been selected, and its PlantWeb® digital plant architecture is being engineered, to automate the world’s two largest capacity liquefied natural gas production trains.“There is a significant growth opportunity in the LNG segment of the hydrocarbon industry today, not only in production and liquefaction but also in transportation and re-gasification,” says Dave Reif, vice president, Emerson Global Hydrocarbon Industry Sales. “The LNG team will focus on demonstrating how Emerson PlantWeb® technologies and services can provide positive solutions throughout the LNG industry.”Emerson will combine the automation and instrument consulting resources and experience of its Hydrocarbon and Energy Center with the broad applications experience and product development resources of its product and technology divisions to deliver state-of-the-art solutions and services for LNG production and transportation. Most recently, he served as vice president of global business development for Chemtex International, where he led an international team to the company’s largest liquefied natural gas project success. Kennedy previously worked in business development and account management with Day and Zimmermann; and in sales, operations and project management with Dupont. He holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from George Washington University and an MBA from Wake Forest University.
