NEMA 4X outdoor rating helps users save on maintenance and replacement costs MILWAUKEE, October 14, 2004 - Rockwell Automation has added high-bright touch display modules to its Allen-Bradley PanelView(tm) Plus operator interface and VersaView CE industrial computer families. They're designed for easier reading in bright locations and are rated to withstand harsh, outdoor environments. The high-bright modules have displays that are three times brighter than the standard touch displays, making them ideal in light-intensive outdoor applications such as those found in water/wastewater, entertainment, and petrochemical industries. "On bright days, operators may find it difficult to read a display, and second-guess the information they're reading, adding time to the process, reducing productivity, and raising the possibility of errors in the field," said Bill Martin, product marketing manager, Rockwell Automation. "The high-bright touch modules address this issue with displays that are backlight-rated at 50,000 hours, and have a light intensity rating of 1,100 NITS, considerably brighter than the indoor-rated display's 300 NITS. Plus, with a true NEMA 4X outdoor rating, our customers get an HMI designed to withstand the harsh effects of ultraviolet light and last just as long as our indoor installations."In addition to the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) 4X outdoor rating, Rockwell Automation also offers an optional stainless steel solar visor that fits over the bezel. The solar visor helps shade the display when ambient temperatures are extreme (reaching 40°C/104°F), making it even easier to read outdoors.Rockwell Automation, Inc.
