Burlington, Ontario, Canada - April 22, 2005 - The Avantis unit of Invensys Process Systems today announced that it has enhanced the Avantis enterprise asset management (EAM) solution with new capability that can reduce purchasing-related activity time by enabling customers and vendors to efficiently collaborate over the Internet in a secure and traceable manner. "The Avantis solution streamlines the procurement process and helps ensure accuracy," said Neil Cooper, general manager of Invensys' Avantis unit. "With our new supply chain collaboration capabilities, purchasing agents can be sure that their orders are received, the correct parts and quantities are shipped on time, and that purchase orders and invoices match perfectly...without time-consuming phone calls, faxes, or paperwork. This new, easy-to-deploy capability compliments Invensys' overall strategy of reducing operation costs while maintaining a high-level of asset reliability and performance." Purchase orders generated in Avantis are sent to a secure web page, which automatically notifies the suppliers of the new order by e-mail and prompts them to verify receipt. After reviewing the order on line, the supplier accepts, rejects, or requests a change to the order. Buyers are immediately notified of the supplier actions and the purchase order is automatically updated. Both the buyer and supplier can view the most recent version of a purchase order electronically over the Web with no conflicting information from old faxes or e-mails. As a result, any issues can be resolved faster; price, quantity, and ship date are all finalized quickly; Avantis is automatically updated; and invoices match purchase orders.About AvantisFor more than 20 years, customers throughout the world have relied on Avantis enterprise asset management (EAM) solutions to improve resource productivity by driving down operating costs, minimizing the risk of unplanned downtime and maximizing financial return on capital assets.
