ANOKA, MN and BROOKFIELD, WI — April 4, 2005 — ECT International, the market leader in electrical design software, has expanded ECT’s promis•e® electrical design software through a strategic partnership with Hoffman, a leading enclosure designer and manufacturer. The partnership simplifies the process and reduces the time required to manage, design and draw electrical systems projects. "Intelligent panel design supported by promis•e software now includes the selection of the most appropriate enclosure to protect critical components," noted Doug Franz, Hoffman Vertical Market Manager. The latest version of promis•e electrical design software now ships with databases that include more than 3800 CAD drawings and 6900 parts database records of standard Hoffman enclosures. The software includes a special program called Panel Builder that guides the user in selecting the correct Hoffman enclosure for their project. The Panel Builder analyzes a selected project, taking into account the amount of space required by the components in the bill of material to produce a list of suitable Hoffman enclosures. Users provide input to filter the selection based on enclosure material, UL/NEMA/IP rating, and enclosure type. Other factors include door vs. panel area and percentage of free space required. The result is a list of Hoffman enclosures and accessories that exactly meet the requirements of the control system. These components can then be saved to the project bill of materials. When the user designs the panel layout for the project using promis•e, the selected components are prompted automatically. Prospective users may request an online demo of the Panel Builder software at www.ecti.com/form-hoffsemreg.php or obtain a demo CD at www.ecti.com/form-hoffdemo.php. Current promis•e users can obtain the Panel Builder by requesting a CD on the ECT website, www.ecti.com."The addition of the Hoffman data is a great convenience to users of our software," said Arthur Sawall, President of ECT International. "By providing a ready-to-use database for enclosures and panels, we save the user significant time and can improve collaboration among draftspersons and engineers."Promis•e software has many intelligent functions that allow control engineers to produce their designs more quickly with fewer errors. Schematics, panel layouts, bills of material, wire lists and terminal plans are more accurate and complete, resulting in smoother start-ups.Hoffman, headquartered in Anoka, Minn., is a leading manufacturer of enclosures and accessories to protect mission critical electronic components in the data communications, government, industrial, and commercial markets.
