Research Triangle Park, NC (6 June 2005) – ISA will offer the latest version of Emerson Process Management’s award-winning measurement software, Flowel 4. Flowel, a software application that makes flow element sizing and specification accurate, easy, and fast was developed by Emerson Process Management’s Hydrocarbon and Energy Industry Center. Emerson Process Management, an Emerson business (NYSE: EMR) developed Flowel as a valuable tool for instrument engineers who need to obtain accurate design calculations, manage project costs, and store and retrieve tag data for a variety of devices and fluids. Flowel 4 includes current flow element standards and calculations and offers innovative features that improve cost-effectiveness.Robert Fallwell, Manager for Measurement Engineering Services at Emerson Process Management’s Hydrocarbon and Energy Center says, “Flowel 4 is a result of the feedback we gathered from our Flowel 3 users. They required new flow equations, true multi-user capability, and new reporting options and, in Flowel 4, we delivered them.” Flowel has provided computer software for flow calculations since 1981, longer than any other PC-based product. Flowel has a long-standing association with ISA, who will be a distributor of the software. Industrial process facilities are constantly faced with the challenges of rapid changes in competition, safety management, and quality assurance. To optimize production, accurate flow measurement must be used to track energy, feedstock, and products. The potential losses that result from inaccurate measurement can be serious. Keeping current with the vast number of standards, calculations, and different flow elements is a challenge for instrumentation specialists. “Flowel 4 has the Flowel legacy. To us, this means more than a name. It means industry-leading accuracy and reliability. We are very excited about this release,” states Fallwell. Flowel 4 provides the latest in industry-standard calculations. Those interested in trying Flowel 4 can download a trial version from the product website.
