MOXA Technologies to Sponsor a Wireless Device Server Daily Winner Contest
April 22, 2005Moxa Technologies announced today that it will sponsor a Wireless Device Server Daily Winner Contest. The goal of the contest is to promote Moxas new line of wireless device servers, which carry Moxas well-known NPort brand name. The most exciting news is that one NPort W2150 (the 1-port wireless device server) will be given away each work day starting May 1. As opposed to other contests of this nature, winning one of Moxas new palm-sized wireless device servers does not depend on chance. Contestants are required to submit a short essay that describes a novel application of wireless device servers, and winners are chosen based on the originality of the idea, and the clarity with which it is described.Although anyone may enter the contest, winners will be restricted to applicants from industry who have a real need for using wireless device servers. The growing popularity of wireless LANs in industrial settings is due in part to the versatility they add to a wide range of applications. Reducing the number of cables used helps reduce cost and removes the risk of devices getting disconnected when someone trips over a cable. Wireless device servers are also being used to add mobility to industrial equipment that otherwise would be restricted to a small area, said Harry Liu, the Moxa Product Manager who will oversee judging of the entries. We felt that requiring applicants to submit a practical application of the product would be a good way to generate interest in the contest. Its certainly a lot more exciting than just pulling names out of a hat. Besides, If youre in the market for a product of this type, youll already have a product application in mind, so it should only take a few minutes to write up a description. Complete contest information is available on the Moxa Group website at www.moxa.com/wireless.Moxas wireless device server family includes three products: the 1-port NPort W2150, 2-port NPort W2250, and 4-port NPort W2004.
