MILWAUKEE, April 28, 2005 — OEMs and end users who desire more functionality in their panel-mounted message displays will benefit from the new firmware upgrade for the Allen-Bradley InView P22R message displays from Rockwell Automation. Now available online for current InView P22R users and shipping with all new P22R orders, the upgrade includes independent line control that allows different information to appear on the display’s two message lines at the same time. Messages can be programmed for each line allowing multiple employee groups to view pertinent data at the same time, improving the communication efficiency on the plant-floor.“The enhancements to the P22R address customer demands for easy message delivery and fast access to critical information. Additionally, customers can now enjoy seamless migration from Dataliner displays to newer technology,” said Paul Whitney, product manager, Rockwell Automation. “This technology gives both OEMs and end users the advanced display functionality they need to meet their increasingly complex and demanding communication needs.” Visible from up to 25 feet away, the InView panel-mount display helps improve responsiveness by quickly communicating critical plant-floor operating and maintenance data, including process status and alarms. The ability to integrate with larger displays to deliver messages plant-wide, as well as to specified locations, improves the efficiency and flexibility of message delivery. The upgrade also supports alphanumeric variables to make bar code reading easier and more efficient. End users and OEMs will be able to scan barcode items with alphanumeric variables and view them on the InView P22R message displays. As an ideal drop-in replacement for older Allen-Bradley Dataliner display models, the InView P22R offers a broad range of communication options that enable it to connect to legacy, serial, and Ethernet TCP/IP networks, as well as advanced factory floor networks using Rockwell Automation NetLinx enabling technologies including DeviceNet, ControlNet and EtherNet/IP. With this advanced connectivity, InView displays help create a unified suite of monitoring and control solutions that can extend from the plant-floor up to the top floor, integrating to business systems when necessary. The InView P22R firmware upgrade is available online for current users and all InView P22R displays are now shipping with these functionalities.Rockwell Automation, Inc.
