New digital I/O modules increase system flexibility and reduce total cost of ownershipMAYFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio, March 31, 2005 – OEMs and end users can further reduce their total cost of ownership and expand system flexibility with new Allen-Bradley POINT I/O modules available from Rockwell Automation. These new modules, very similar to the 1734-OB2E, -OB4E, and -OB8E POINT I/O modules, meet manufacturers’ performance requirements while delivering greater value. “For users who want to reduce their procurement costs without sacrificing performance, these modules are a welcome solution,” said John Riess, POINT I/O product manager, Rockwell Automation. 1734-OB2, -OB4, -OB8, Series C - The Series C 1734-OB2 (2-channel), -OB4 (4 channel), -OB8 (8-channel) modules are all standard feature (non-diagnostic), 24V dc protected output modules and are available at a lower procurement cost than the 1734 OBE modules. Because the modules are part of the POINT I/O platform, they can be easily integrated into existing systems for faster installation and setup. Users can maximize the number of I/O channels on a single POINT I/O adapter at 504 channels, adding greater flexibility. Each module is rated for one amp per output and three amps per module. 1734-ARM, - A single-slot 12mm-wide smart slot filler for the POINT I/O backplane (POINTBus), the POINT I/O Address Reserve Module helps OEMs and end users reuse their previously developed applications to meet the unique needs of each customer. The 1734-ARM can be replaced by an active module at any time, maximizing the value of the POINT I/O solution. 1734-CTM, 1734-VTM, - The -CTM and -VTM single-slot 12mm-wide modules provide easy-to-use common and voltage terminations for two-wire and three-wire field devices. The POINT I/O Common Terminal Module and Voltage Terminal Module are ideal for manufacturers who need increased termination flexibility at the POINTBus, and are compatible with all of the POINT I/O terminal bases. The POINT I/O 1734-OB2, -OB4, -OB8 standard feature digital modules, along with the 1734-ARM, 1734-CTM, and 1734-VTM modules, are now currently available.
