Hoffman Prepares to Expand Thermal Management Product Portfolio

Anoka, Minn., October 2005 – Pentair, Inc. (NYSE: PNR) announced its intent to purchase certain assets of APW Ltd., including McLean Midwest, Electronic Solutions, and Aspen Motion Technologies, Inc. This announcement strengthens Hoffman Enclosures by adding critical thermal management solutions for manufacturing, packaging, material handling, processing, data communications, networking, and electrical industries to Pentair’s Enclosures Group. The acquisition is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2005. As part of the Pentair Enclosure Group, Hoffman is a leading enclosure designer and manufacturer. Hoffman and McLean have been previously affiliated through a private labeling supply agreement. McLean is a leader in the design and manufacture of air conditioning, cooling, and other thermal management products for electrical and electronic equipment.
