Japanese Industrial Imaging Association (JIIA) is Organized

Here is the opening statement of Mr. Oka, the interim secretary of the newly organized association. To launch “Japan Industrial Imaging Association”At the "'05 International Technical Exhibition on Image Technology and Equipment", Pacifico Yokohama 7 Dec – 9 Dec / 2005, an orientation session of “Japan Industrial Imaging Association” which will be established in the next year was held.We, the preparatory committee, greatly appreciate for more than 70 companies, 100 people coming to the session. On behalf of the preparatory committee, I, Shigeo Oka, spoke at the session to explain mainly about its back ground, purpose to establish, policy and works to do of this association.The purpose to establish of this association is to drive and promote standardization of advanced imaging technology for growth of machine vision market.The policy of this association is nonprofit-making, open for international, and each member stands at equal footing. Therefore, this association will be operated and managed to contribute for each member, machine vision customers and market.Here are the works to do of this association. 1. To drive and promote standardization of advanced imaging technology2. To join and propose international standardization committees3. To hold and organize seminars and lectures for growth of machine vision market4. To publish minutes of each meeting for standardization and important information5. To investigate and publish technology trend, stats of market6. To organize and support international meetings and events related to machine visionOthers about draft articles, organization, annual fee and relationship between other associations (groups) were also informed at the session.3 AIA’s (Automated Imaging Association) board members were attending the session. On behalf of AIA, Mr. Keith Reuben, President of DALSA Coreco, gave us a great speech to congratulate and wish to cooperate with this association.Mr. Hori, a member of AIA’s standardization working group, gave us a presentation and explained significance and responsibility of industry group.After that, several sessions of “technology trend and future of Digital Interface” were presented by several members of the preparatory committee.I’m glad this session was succeed as the great 1st step to let you all understand the purpose to establish this association The back ground to establish this association is globalization of market which is coming from technology innovation. In case of machine vision market, which we exist, digitalization and increasing operating speed are common technology trend. Market itself is also changing to accommodate it.From the technical point of view, there are some standards about digital interface, which we spoke at the session. Also new standards are being considered and proposed. In addition, those standards, proposals, plans are coming from associations which are based on not-Japan region.Machine vision market becomes borderlessness geographically, and other business categories become to use machine vision technology.AIA and EMVA are driving and promoting some standardization. It ensures globalization and growth of machine vision market.Meantime to establish Japan Industrial Imaging Association, we already involved not only camera, frame grabber, lens, lighting, software manufactures but also system integrators. This certificates we aim this association will be having equity, fairness and transparency and be able to cooperate with AIA and EMVA.Power Over Camera Link, Giga Bit Ethernet, Large Diameter Lens, Strobe Control interface are under consideration as typical sub committees in this association.Main works of this association is technical standardization. However, as a goal of this, we will also do enlightenment and proposal activities to ensure to create network of between each member. We are sure that this will make good effects for also machine vision customers.We are preparing to hold an official 1st meeting in February 2005. This association will be official at that time. Regardless size of companies, type of groups (individuals, organizations etc.), we are pleased to welcome you all, who understand and agree with the policy to establish this association, join this association.
