Clinton Township, Michigan - October 2005 - KUKA Robotics Corporation, a leading global manufacturer of industrial robots, today announced its newest system partner, Bowers Equipment Company, Inc., has selected KUKA Robotics to provide robots for its new Robotics Pipe Cutting Platform. The new platform is the industry's lowest cost robotic pipe cutting system. Priced well below $200,000, the new platform retails at half of the cost of larger more expensive fixed equipment units. The unit also dramatically increases cutting speeds and accuracy over traditionally used equipment. "Until now financially justifying an investment in an automated system just wasn't an option for many customers," said Joe Campbell, director of strategic alliances for KUKA Robotics Corporation. "Now finally customers have an affordable option. Even small fabrication shops can reap the benefits of automated cutting.""We researched all the robotic offerings available and chose KUKA products because their robots beat the competition not only in reliability and flexibility but also in price," said Doyle Bowers Jr., executive vice president of Bowers Equipment Company, Inc. "We also found their systems training and support program to be equally impressive."The new Robotic Pipe Cutting Platform consists of Bower Equipment's Pipe Burn Off Table and a KUKA KR 6 robot. The standard table is 20 feet long with rollers that move or rotate the pipe. There is an option for longer tables and conveyors. The robot can be mounted to the table, allowing the pipe to move past the robot, or mounted to the carriage allowing the robot to move along the pipe or the pipe to move past the robot. The system is capable of cutting pipe with diameter sizes between 2 and 48 inches. Bowers Equipment Company, Inc. of Houston, Texas is a leading industrial equipment manufacturer specializing in the production of quality machinery for the welding, fabricating and manufacturing industries. The company is the only robotic pipe cutting manufacturer with local service and support in the gulf coast region of the United States.
