ISA EXPO 2006 to Feature World's Leading Expert on Industrial Safety

Research Triangle Park, NC (21 March 2006) - ISA announced today that Dr. Trevor Kletz, worldwide expert on process safety and loss prevention, will deliver the Rimbach Lecture at ISA EXPO 2006 in Houston, Texas. "Dr. Kletz is a world renowned communicator on safety and loss prevention in the process industries. We are thrilled to announce his involvement with ISA EXPO," said Dale Lee, ISA Director of Convention Services. "His lecture is sure to be a highlight of the event, and we look forward to bringing such a worthwhile session to our attendees." Dr. Kletz is a chemist turned chemical engineer who spent 38 years working for the successful British company Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI). He started at ICI in the research department, and went on to production management and later became the safety adviser to the petrochemicals division. He is currently a Visiting Fellow and a Visiting Professor at Loughborough University in England and at Texas A&M University. In the forward of one of Dr. Kletz's books, his old ICI boss Sir John Harvey-Jones writes: "Trevor single-handedly taught us to look at safety in a different way... [He] will, I am sure, always sleep soundly at night, secure in the knowledge that his persistence, imagination and passion have saved countless numbers of his fellow men from injury, mutilation and even death."Dr. Kletz has written eleven books, over 100 papers, and over 300 articles on loss prevention and process safety. His work includes studies of inherently safer design, Hazop and QRA, human error, accident case histories and investigations, hazards of modifications, and hazards of computer control. He is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, Institution of Chemical Engineers, Royal Society of Chemistry and American Institute of Chemical Engineers, and was appointed an officer of the Order of the British Empire in 1997.The Rimbach Lecture is brought to ISA EXPO thanks to the generosity of the Rimbach family.
