HANNOVER MESSE 2006, 24 April to 28 April
  • Energy and automation as keynote themes
  • World Energy Dialogue, Robotics World and Partner Country India among the highlights of the show
  • 5,175 exhibitors, 154,796 m² of display area, 66 countries represented HANNOVER MESSE (the Hannover Fair) has once again demonstrated its credentials as the world's most important technology event. From 24 to 28 April 2006 a grand total of 5,175 exhibitors from 66 countries will be presenting the latest products and services for industry at the Hannover Exhibition Center. This year's HANNOVER MESSE line-up brings together ten international flagship trade fairs with a total 154,796 m² of stand bookings. The central themes of HANNOVER MESSE 2006 are energy and industrial automation. Another highlight will be the major presentation by India as this year's featured "Partner Country" at HANNOVER MESSE 2006.Energy is a matter of survival"In the vital area of energy HANNOVER MESSE is not content this year with simply presenting all the latest technologies", says Sepp D. Heckmann, Chairman of the Board of Deutsche Messe AG. "We cannot duck the issues arising out of the increasingly urgent debate about the global energy situation. This calls for an active engagement with all the different energy concepts under discussion, including renewables and conventional energy. Security of supply at affordable energy costs is a matter of survival for manufacturing industry. So here at HANNOVER MESSE it is necessary to discuss ways forward to achieve a balanced and sustainable energy mix for the future."In order to promote such a debate Deutsche Messe AG and the Federation of German Industry (BDI - Bundesverband der Deutschen Industrie), with the support of the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Technology, are organizing the first "World Energy Dialogue", which will serve as a central convention for energy at the heart of HANNOVER MESSE. Here international companies and institutions from the energy industry, the scientific community and government will meet with industry representatives. The subjects for discussion include the opportunities and challenges that come with new energy technologies for securing our long-term future energy needs.Prince Hassan of Jordan, President of the Club of Rome, has agreed to act as patron of the first World Energy Dialogue. The congress program will be delivered by a distinguished line-up of international energy experts.Automation as a competitive factorIndustrial automation continues to be driven in large part by the need to remain competitive. "To succeed in industry today you need to be making the products that people want at a cost that you can afford. To do that you need to optimize your processes - and increased automation of the production operation is a key prerequisite. This is particularly true for small and medium-sized enterprises", argues Heckmann.HANNOVER MESSE 2006 presents the complete range of new solutions and technologies for process automation and production automation right across the industrial spectrum. "Not only have we extended our scope to include topical themes such as Industrial Building Automation at HANNOVER MESSE, but we have also deliberately set out to present industrial automation in its entirety as a fully integrated technological continuum. This approach has paid off, and this year's Automation display section is larger and more comprehensive than last year's", says Heckmann. The special presentation "Robotics World" in Hall 17 will constitute the nerve center of industrial automation at HANNOVER MESSE 2006. Here visitors from every sector of industry can learn all about the latest robot technologies and their applications. The program includes the Robotics Applications Center (incorporating the new "Image Processing Meeting Point"), the Automation Applications Clinic and the special presentation "Automation live". In addition the Robotics Academy offers a crash course in industrial robotics with its program of short seminars covering all the basics. "Robotics World is a good example of how HANNOVER MESSE provides practical help and guidance for small and medium-sized enterprises. For anyone thinking about investing in industrial robots, Hall 17 is an invaluable source of useful information to help them with their investment decisions", says Heckmann.India is this year's "Partner Country"The "Partner Country" presentation at HANNOVER MESSE 2006 showcases India - one of the world's fastest-growing markets for foreign investors and manufacturers - in the context of international industry and business. 343 Indian exhibitors will be demonstrating their technological prowess at the joint national presentation in Hall 6 and in other displays throughout the Fair, adding up to more than 13,000 m² of exhibition space. The main focus is on energy technologies, industrial subcontracting services and other service offerings, plus R&D capabilities. As well as the exhibition component, India's Partner Country presentation also includes a supporting program of conferences and informative events which provide many additional opportunities for bilateral business talks. These include the "Indo-German Business Summit", the central Partner Country event on the opening day of the show, the "Indo-German Energy Forum", which forms part of the larger "World Energy Dialogue", as well as a number of other seminars and meetings taking place throughout the Fair.An integral part of India's presentation is of course the attendance of prominent figures from the political and business worlds. Joining Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel for the formal opening ceremony on the eve of HANNOVER MESSE 2006 and the official tour of the exhibits on 24 April will be India's Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh. Other politicians and senior business figures from India are also expected to attend. At the interface of key industrial technologiesWith its unique constellation of ten international flagship trade shows, HANNOVER MESSE 2006 brings together all the key areas of industrial production, energy, services and R&D in one place and at one time. The trade shows INTERKAMA+ and Factory Automation, plus the new Industrial Building Automation, are essential viewing for anyone interested in industrial automation. These three trade shows occupy in total 59,000 m² of floor space, making industrial automation the largest single display category at HANNOVER MESSE 2006.The next largest group of exhibits (over 30,000 m²) is the trade fair "Energy", which showcases the complete spectrum of energy technologies for conventional and renewable energy. This year "Energy" is complemented for the first time by the new trade show "Pipeline Technology", which focuses on the energy-related field of pipeline and drainage networks.Apart from automation and energy, HANNOVER MESSE 2006 brings together innovations from the key areas of industrial technology that cut across conventional industrial categories. "Subcontracting" is the leading display platform for suppliers of industrial materials, components and systems. With almost 27,800 m² of display area, this is the third largest thematic segment at this year's HANNOVER MESSE. "Digital Factory" presents IT solutions and services for industrial processes, while the new trade show "Industrial Facility Management & Services" features technology and services for the maintenance of industrial facilities and the specialist discipline known as "condition monitoring". "MicroTechnology" is once again the leading showcase for applied microsystems technology and new products based on nanotechnologies. Finally, the "Innovations Market Research & Technology" brings to Hannover a whole mixed bag of up-to-the-minute technical research projects for every section of manufacturing industry.International technology event sends out positive signalsAs HANNOVER MESSE 2006 prepares to open its doors to the public, the mood in industry is looking distinctly more upbeat. The total display area at this year's show is some eight per cent larger than in 2004, up from 143,416 to 154,796 m². The number of exhibitors has also risen slightly, from 5,085 in 2004 to 5,175 this year. The number of foreign exhibitors at HANNOVER MESSE 2006 likewise signals an upward trend in business activity. Since 2004 the total display area booked by foreign exhibitors has increased by more than 20 per cent to 45,250 m². This year a total of 2,322 foreign exhibitors are coming to HANNOVER MESSE - some five per cent more than in 2004. The largest national contingent is coming from this year's "Partner Country" India (343 exhibitors), followed by China (250 exhibitors), Italy (210 exhibitors), Switzerland (138 exhibitors) and Turkey (103 exhibitors).Sepp D. Heckmann sums it up as follows: "Only HANNOVER MESSE presents such a detailed and complete line-up of the latest solutions and technologies for industry. Despite intensive competition, HANNOVER MESSE 2006 is once again set to be the most important technology event of the year for the world's industry." Learn More
