Barry-Wehmiller Design Group opens Los Angeles office

ST. LOUIS - July 10, 2006 - Joseph Wilhelm, Managing Partner of Barry-Wehmiller Design Group, Inc., has announced the opening of the firm’s ninth office, in the Los Angeles area.The Los Angeles office, located in Cerritos, Calif., will be under the direction of Alan Cheney, Managing Partner of the Design Group’s northern California operation, based near Sacramento.Commenting on the expansion, Cheney said, “Given the size and importance of the California market and the growth of our firm’s presence in the western United States, we knew that a commitment in Southern California was absolutely critical to our clients and to our ongoing business proposition.”Wilhelm stressed that this is not a sales office, stating, “Virtually all of our professionals are engineers and software specialists, with direct experience in the food, beverage, pharmaceutical and biotech industries.”The Los Angeles office will also serve to further strengthen the Design Group’s pharmaceutical and biotech presence in Southern California. “Our engineering presence is well-established through our San Francisco engineering office,” stated Ray Hensel, Managing Partner of the firm’s national Pharmaceutical and Biotech Practice. “The Los Angeles office only strengthens our resolve to be the nation’s premier engineering consulting firm for the biotech industry, with capacity to evaluate projects on a global scale.”The Design Group employs approximately 350 engineers, software designers, architects, regulatory specialists and other technical personnel throughout nine offices in the U.S. and Puerto Rico.
