Michigan Avenue goes French in July with a showcase of French technology

Chicago, June 26, 2006 - "Michigan Avenue Goes French" now has more than 30 companies on its roster for the open-air exhibition to take place from July 13 to 16, on Pioneer Court, 401 N. Michigan Ave., in Chicago. The exhibitors from aerospace, automotive, boating, electronics, medical, and other industries will display products and services to show the public how French industry plays a role in their everyday lives. Though French technical and industrial advances are well known by industry professionals, they lack exposure among the general public who habitually associates French savoir-faire with fancy food and luxury consumer goods. Organized by the French Trade Commission in Chicago, this outdoor event for the public will attempt to sway those tendencies. In addition to more than 8,000 sq. ft. of French industry, the show will also host commercial and luxury retailers such as Air France, Sephora, and a fashion show debuting collections from six French designers of women's apparel that will soon be available in the United States. Michigan Avenue Goes French will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, July 14; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 15; and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 16. Surrounding the Equitable Building, three large tents will be devoted to the following industries: Automotive and motorsports tent: BMS:Bianchi Motorsports manufactures pocket bikes, also known as minimoto for motorsports events and leisure. Hutchinson FTS: Hutchinson Fluid Transfer Systems produces under-hood air conditioning tube and hose assemblies. Mapa: Mapa Spontex is a worldwide manufacturer of protective gloves for both retail and professional divisions for use in the home or for industrial and clean room uses. Mygale: A competition car manufacturer, Mygale makes chassis of all Formula MW cars (FB02) that feature a state-of-the-art single-shell body made of carbon fiber and Kevlar put to rigorous safety tests. Plastic Omnium: Plastic Omnium Auto Exterior is a world leader in the design and manufacture of energy absorption systems such as fascia, fenders, body panels, and body modules. Poclain Hydraulics: Poclain Hydraulics designs and manufactures hydrostatic transmissions integrating high torque camlobe motors for large industrial vehicles in construction and other demanding road conditions. Aerospace and other technologies tent: Citel: Citel specializes in surge voltage protection, manufacturing gas discharge tubes and surge protection devices. Dassault Falcon: A division of Dassault Aviation, Falcon represents 40 years of success - more than 1,700 aircraft sold in more than 65 countries-for corporate aircraft used by businessmen, companies, institutions, and governments. Delmia: A subsidiary of Dassault Systemes, Delmia develops digital manufacturing software for automotive, aerospace, defense, shipbuilding, consumer goods, and electrical and electronics industries. Finuchem:The Finuchem Group markets robotics and automation systems for use in the aeronautics, automotive, marine, defense, and semi-conductor business. GIFAS: GIFAS, the French aerospace industries association, has more than 250 members, from major prime contractors and system suppliers to small specialist companies. Activities extend from civil and military aircraft and helicopters to engines, missiles and armament, satellites and launch vehicles, plus aerospace, defense and security major systems, equipment, subassemblies, and associated software. Hanover Displays: Hanover Displays produces a complete range of multicolor and monochrome high-definition destination signs for the public transport industry. Imagine:IMAGINE develops, markets, and maintains its AMESim modeling and simulation platform that integrates multi-disciplinary system simulation into a single environment for the automotive industry. This software performs system functional performance analysis throughout all phases of product development. Safran: Groupe Safran is an association of high-technology companies in aerospace propulsion, aircraft equipment, defense security, and communications. Working with prestigious brands such as Boeing, Airbus, and GE, each company holds, either alone or in partnership, global or European leadership in all of its markets. Zodiac: Zodiac develops inflatable boats made from flexible composite materials for marine and leisure uses, as well as safety products for aero nautical and aerospace industries. Home, kitchen, and medical tent: Axa: Axa Assistance is a subsidiary of the Axa Group, the third-largest insurance company in the world. Opha: Opha manufactures and markets a "therapeutic clock" with oversized text and numbers for hospital patients with memory disorders. Quinette Gallay: Quinette Gallay designs and manufactures seating for auditoriums, movie theatres, and other entertainment venues. Schneider Electric: Schneider Electric is the world's largest company exclusively devoted to electrical distribution and automation.
