Texas Instruments Developer Conference Booth 102 - Dallas, TXTexas Instruments Includes Green Hills Software MULTI Development Tools in DaVinci™ Technology Evaluation ModulesTexas Instruments Developer Conference, Dallas, TX — March 7, 2007 — Green Hills Software announced that an evaluation version of its MULTI integrated development environment (IDE) for DaVinci technology from Texas Instruments Inc. (TI) (NYSE: TXN) is shipping with each Digital Video Evaluation Module (DVEVM). Developed in partnership with TI, the Green Hills Software MULTI IDE for DaVinci technology provides the most comprehensive suite of development tools and operating system-aware debugging for TI’s TMS320DM644x systems-on-chip (SoC) processors. TI's DaVinci technology is a complete offering of video-optimized processors, software, development tools and support ecosystem tailored for the simple development of efficient and compelling digital video and its associated audio. “Green Hills Software is excited to offer MULTI for DaVinci in a seamless delivery method through the DVEVMs. Now, developers using DaVinci technology can obtain rapid access to the most complete development solution available, allowing them to be more efficient and effective in their product development,” said Dan Mender, director, business development, Green Hills Software.“MULTI is key for enabling DaVinci technology developers to achieve digital video product innovation and differentiation in the fastest, most intuitive manner,” said Greg Mar, worldwide DSP SoC platform manager, TI. “Its advanced multicore debugging and OS aware capabilities are the basis to delivering the best time to market for product development.”MULTI supports DaVinci technology product developmentMULTI for DaVinci technology seamlessly integrates the industry’s most advanced ARM compiler from Green Hills along with TI’s award winning Code Composer Studio compiler for TI’s TMS320C64x+ DSP core. This means that a single instance of MULTI can compile and debug for both the DM644x ARM9 core and TI’s C64x+ DSP core. MULTI supports advanced kernel and OS-aware debugging for Monta Vista’s Linux as well as for Green Hills Software’s INTEGRITY and velOSity real-time operating systems. For TI's C64x+ DSP core, MULTI is integrated with TI’s DSP/BIOS real-time kernel, including support for full DSP/BIOS kernel awareness. The Green Hills probe, an advanced hardware debug device, can simultaneously debug applications running on both the ARM9 and C64x+ DSP cores using a single connection. MULTI for DaVinci technology also has broad support for third-party hardware probes. For communication between the ARM9 and C64x+ cores, MULTI, Linux and INTEGRITY have support for TI’s DSP/BIOS Link, an inter-processor communication library. Monta Vista Linux/ARM DebuggingDevelopers employing Monta Vista Linux on the ARM core of the DM644x processors can now use MULTI’s advanced Linux debug capabilities that include:
  • Linux GUI-based Operating System Awareness (OSA)
  • The ability to debug user mode Linux applications from a stop-mode (JTAG) connection
  • The ability to debug multi-threaded, multi-process Linux applications from a run-mode (Ethernet) connection, using a powerful debug agent developed by Green Hills Software
  • The ability to utilize the Green Hills Software ARM compilers that generate 20 to 30 percent smaller and faster code than the standard GCC compilers
  • The ability to debug the Linux kernel graphically using the Green Hills probe
  • The ability to debug loadable Linux modules from their entry pointsRoyalty-free INTEGRITY RTOS for DaVinci technologyINTEGRITY, the premier royalty-free RTOS for use in highly reliable embedded systems, is the most secure RTOS available for the ARM core in DaVinci technology processors. Demonstrating the highest average growth in RTOS market share over the past three years, the success of INTEGRITY is due to its advanced technological design. It incorporates memory protection, guaranteed resource availability, field upgradeability, and optimal real-time response. The INTEGRITY royalty-free business model and advanced security features make it ideal for applications ranging from high-volume consumer digital video electronics to next-generation video surveillance equipment. Availability and PricingThe Green Hills MULTI IDE for DaVinci technology is available today. DVEVMs are available from TI and distributors.
