IPS participates in workshops at INTERPHEX

FOXBORO, MASSACHUSETTS, USA - APRIL 4, 2007 - Experts from Invensys' pharmaceutical and biotechnology practices will help explore the relationship between enterprise integration and operational excellence in three separate workshops during the INTERPHEX 2007 conference at the Jacob K. Javits Center, New York, April 24 -26. The Invensys experts will join operations specialists from Genentech, Wyeth, Johnson & Johnson, Microsoft, and noted industry consultant, Dennis Brandl, in three conference sessions. In the first event, "Operational and Business Excellence: How do you measure where you are and what measures can you make to improve efficiencies," Janice Abel, Invensys director pharmaceutical and biotechnical industries, will participate in a panel including Catherine Middelberg, Wyeth manager; Stephen Dinka, Genentech associate director of engineering and business operations; Tony Cann, Genentech senior manager for operational excellence; and Ruediger Dorn, Microsoft director for the worldwide pharmaceutical industry. Panelists will discuss global market trends and their impact on manufacturing operations and performance. Topics covered will include PAT (Process Analytical Technology), Six Sigma, operations optimization, maximizing collaboration, automation integration, and measuring performance. This panel will take place in room MG2 at the Javits Center on Tuesday, April 24th, from 9:00 to 11:30 AM. In the second event, "Operational Excellence: More than a Program for Integrating Control and MES; Real Business Benefits," Charlie Nicastro, Invensys director of business development for the pharmaceutical industry; will join Gordon Kosovan, Johnson & Johnson pharmaceutical technology and global plant standards specialist; in presenting the benefits of Johnson & Johnson's Operational Excellence program. This presentation will take place in room IT4 on Tuesday, April 24th, from 2:00 to 3:00 PM. And on Wednesday, Jim Huff, Invensys global industry marketing director for specialty chemicals and pharmaceuticals, and Don Clark, Invensys global industry marketing director (and co-chair of the ISA S95 steering committee), will join Dennis Brandl, BR&L Consulting president, in the workshop "S95 and What it Means for the Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology Industries." Brandl is widely known throughout the industry as the editor in chief of the ISA S95 standard. Panelists will share their experiences in applying the standard and the benefits that S95 brings to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. This will take place in room IT9 on Wednesday, April 25th, from 2:00 to 4:15 PM.
