OCTOBER 29, 2007 - EVERETT, Wash. - Fluke will donate two of its high-performance Fluke 289 True-RMS Industrial Logging Multimeters with TrendCapture to each of ten qualifying educational institutions through a new Fluke Education Grant Program. Designed to help ensure that educators, students and entry-level professionals have access to state-of-the-art technology, the program enables instructors in accredited programs to apply for grants of the Fluke 289 to be used in training students to diagnose problems in electronics, plant automation, power distribution and electromechanical equipment.Members of the Fluke Education Partnership Program can apply for the grant by completing the grant application form available on the Fluke Education Partnership Web site. The Fluke Education Partnership is a Web-based program offering educators in technical, university and apprenticeship programs free curriculum materials and a 25% discount on all Fluke handheld test tools. Membership is free. To register, go to www.fluke.com/education. Deadline for applications is December 15, 2007. Applications will be reviewed by a committee from Fluke for program elements, including breadth of course offering, degree/certification qualifications and statistics, and plans for using the Fluke DMMs within the curriculum. The ten winning institutions will be announced in February 2008. Each will receive a pair of Fluke 289 True-rms Industrial Logging Multimeters with TrendCapture valued at $529.95 each, to be delivered in March 2008.Designed to maximize productivity and minimize downtime, the high-performance Fluke 289 features a logging function with expanded memory that stores up to 10,000 readings for unattended monitoring of signals over time. Users can save multiple logging sessions before PC download is necessary and review logged readings in graphical format directly on the meter display, using on-board TrendCapture capability.The Fluke 289 features a large 50,000-count, 3-1/2 inch 1/4 VGA dot-matrix display with a white backlight that can simultaneously display multiple sets of measurement information. It includes context-sensitive onboard help screens, multiple save options and automatic time stamping for convenient recall of measurements made in the field. Optional FlukeView forms PC software enables users to document, store and analyze individual readings or a series of measurements, and then convert them into professional looking reports.The Fluke 289 has a two-terminal 50-ohm range with one-milliohm resolution and 10 mA source current, which is useful for measuring and comparing differences in motor winding resistance or contact resistance.
