STOCKHOLM, June 27, 2007 – Honeywell (NYSE:HON) today announced that Iggesund Paperboard, a leading Swedish manufacturer of paperboard used in the packaging and graphics sectors, will implement Honeywell’s Da Vinci Quality Control System (QCS) and a range of Honeywell actuators in a contract worth $2 million. In the year-long project, Honeywell will automate quality control on Iggesund’s paperboard production machine, located at the company’s plant in Iggesund, Sweden. The project is expected to result in more consistent paper quality due to improved color measurement and more accurate moisture and weight profile control. The project, begun in November 2006, will also see Honeywell implement a range of paper actuators which will enable Iggesund to maintain greater control over the cross-directional (CD) properties of the board as it is processed. The increase in control will result not just in an improved product, but in a reduction in waste. Honeywell is using three different actuators in the Iggesund solution. These include the AutoSlice, which provides superior CD basis weight control; the Aqualizer re-moisturizing system, which ensures accurate moisture levels by applying a fine water spray to dry areas of the sheet and the ProFlow, which delivers automatic CD control for dilution, consistency profiling and width. The Da Vinci QCS will use these actuators to ensure that the Iggesund system complies with strict pre-determined measurements and standards. "Like any successful business, Iggesund must consistently improve its product in order to grow its sales," said Paul Orzeske, vice president and general manager, Honeywell Process Solutions Europe, Middle East and Africa. "Our extensive experience in the European pulp and paper industry positions us well to help Iggesund meet its business growth objectives."Honeywell International is a $33 billion diversified technology and manufacturing leader, serving customers worldwide with aerospace products and services; control technologies for buildings, homes and industry; automotive products; turbochargers; and specialty materials.
