Grenoble, France, April 18, 2008 – Itris Automation Square launched PLC Metrics, a free tool that allows automation engineers and technicians to automatically analyze their PLC programs. PLC Metrics automatically analyzes a PLC program and computes metrics such as the number of rungs, I/Os and steps. It also determines its main characteristics: the hardware configuration, the presence of Grafcet (and its steps and macros) and the presence of specific cards. Results of the analysis are computed online in a matter of seconds. PLC Metrics provides automation engineers with valuable information to help them anticipate and diagnose problems. PLC Metrics is a very good decision making tool before a conversion: based on the results of the analysis, automation engineers are able to predict the cost of the conversion and decide whether they should rewrite the program. Finally, PLC Metrics is also a very good way to re-document a program when the original documentation is no longer available. "By offering a free access to PLC Metrics, Itris Automation Square is renewing its commitment to allow an easy access to the best computer science techniques for Programmable Logic Controllers. This commitment is at the heart of our mission and we are very happy today to help the community of automation engineers," explains Daniel Pilaud, CEO of Itris Automation Square. PLC Metrics is available for programs written for Orphée, PL7-3, PL7-Pro and SMC PLCs, offered by Schneider Electric. It will soon be also available for Siemens and Rockwell Automation PLCs.About Itris Automation SquareItris Automation Square offers highly innovative development tools for Programmable Logic Controllers.
