May 21, 2008 – Charlotte, NC: Software Toolbox’s OPC Data Logger product has passed the OPC Client Certification tests administered by the OPC Foundation’s Independent Certification Test Lab to become the first OPC client application to pass this rigorous testing process. The Independent Certification Test Lab puts OPC products through a set of rigorous, defined tests required by the OPC Certification Test Specifications over a period of a full week of testing. The tests are designed to determine if an OPC client product is following the best practices for the use of OPC and will interoperate well with other products. Tests include clearly defined interoperability testing against reference OPC Servers from industry leaders such as Kepware, Cyberlogic, Matrikon, ABB, & Siemens. Tests also include extended run testing to look for memory leaks or instability, including during periods of network disruption. The independent lab even intercepts the OPC calls made between a client and a server and injects common and many not so common errors into the calls to insure that the OPC client handles abnormal conditions in an orderly manner. The independent nature of these tests represents a new level of rigor in OPC Compliance testing. John Weber, President & Founder of Software Toolbox said, “Software Toolbox has been active in OPC Interoperability workshops for 8 years and we strive to always deliver a quality product to our clients. Participating in the OPC Independent Test Labs program is evidence for our clients of our dedication to OPC and to the process of delivering quality products. Our engineers who visited the test labs were impressed by the level of detail and OPC expertise shown by the independent lab team and the rigor of the tests.” OPC DataLogger is developed by Software Toolbox and is designed for users, integrators, and OEMs seeking to quickly implement data logging of production data from OPC DA Servers to open data stores such as Oracle, SQL, MySQL, Text Files/CSV, and Excel. OPC DataLogger is designed for the range of applications where a full blown historian isn’t required or practical for the application. Wizard driven configuration dialogs make configuration quick and easy. The use of native drivers for connections to Oracle, MySQL, and SQL Server insure reliable performance when logging to these open, industry standard databases. Logging start/stop can be triggered on time, event, or other user defined conditions. OPC Data Logger runs as a service for unattended operation and supports Windows 2000, XP, 2003, and Vista.
