June 26, 2008 -- As an engineer, a technical salesperson, or a marketing guru, giving presentations is a must to get support for your projects or proposals, according to Paul Gruhn. This second edition of "Sell More Through Effective Technical Presentations" provides helpful tips and real-life examples on how to give effective technical presentations from a sales perspective. This easy-to-read guide offers updated information on presentation materials and styles and will help you become a more competent speaker. The book supplies real-world information in a light and fun manner, with cartoons to illustrate poor choices when giving presentations. Gruhn points out that "people begin to 'buy' when they start asking questions. After all, listeners have a point to make, too." He further states that the presenter's enthusiasm is critical and gives numerous hints on making effective PowerPoint(tm) presentations. The book also discusses the pitfalls of using animated graphics, acronyms, overly complex graphics, and other types of supporting materials. Paul Gruhn is an engineer, instructor, speaker, consultant, and software developer. His technical specialty is Safety Instrumented Systems. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Texas, a Certified Functional Safety Expert, and an ISA Fellow. Paul is co-author of Safety Instrumented Systems Design, Analysis and Justification, 2nd Edition.
