Perry Pederson named to I3P Process Control Security Advisory Board

December 17, 2008 - Wurldtech Security Technologies announced that Perry Pederson has been selected to join the Process Control Systems (PCS) Advisory Board of the Institute for Information Infrastructure Protection (I3P). Managed by Dartmouth College and sponsored by the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and National Institute of Standards and Technology, the I3P is a consortium of 27 leading universities, national laboratories and non-profit institutions dedicated to strengthening critical cyber infrastructures. "As an internationally recognized expert in the areas of digital security, cyber terrorism and critical infrastructure protection, Pederson brings an impressive breadth of experience and global stakeholder relationships to the I3P," said Martha Austin, executive director of the I3P. "We are confident he will contribute to our process control system project and are honored he has joined our team." The I3P is working to harden PCS security, devising ways for both legacy and modern systems to better withstand proliferating security threats, which range from operator error to cyber terrorism. Specifically, the team is developing procedures and technologies to allow oil and gas operations to better detect and defend against cyber attacks and to recover quickly should one occur. To ensure that their tools and technologies are deployable in real-world operating environments, the team has named a select group of industry advisors and also forged partnerships with various companies and trade associations in the oil and gas sector.In addition to Wurldtech’s Pederson, board members include:
