November 10, 2009 – EPLAN Software & Services announced that Jan Dominik Gunkel has accepted the position of president of the company’s North American operations. The appointment of Mr. Gunkel is part of a strategic plan to continue to aggressively grow the company in terms of both market share and physical expansion. “As a demonstration of our unwavering commitment to the North American market, we have selected one of the most qualified managers in our company’s ranks to lead the North American operations to the next phase of rapid growth and sustained customer satisfaction,” said Norbert Müller, president of EPLAN International, about Mr. Gunkel’s appointment. Mr. Gunkel, a 29-year old native of Germany, holds a Masters of Economics and Business Administration degree and brings with him diversified experience in sales, organizational and financial management, and leadership from his three-year tenure at Rittal International, EPLAN’s parent company. Prior to that, Mr. Gunkel ran his own business developing and selling web content management systems to small and medium enterprises. “As a former business owner I know very well the challenges decision makers in today’s economy are facing. Being competitive in North America is now more difficult than ever and EPLAN offers great opportunities to make our customers’ engineering more efficient. It is a perfect fit and I am excited to grow and develop EPLAN together with our customers and partners,” stated Mr. Gunkel. Mr. Gunkel also possesses valuable insight into the global markets he gained during the course of several years living outside his home country, such as in China, Malaysia, Spain, Switzerland as well as the USA. “In the U.S. and Canada EPLAN is mainly known for its flagship electrical design product EPLAN Electric P8. One of my priorities is to make the full portfolio of EPLAN software and services that have been long established in Europe easily accessible to customers on this side of the Atlantic. We are already launching an array of new offerings. One of them is our instrumentation and process control design software EPLAN PPE, which combines the P&ID design with instrumentation data management in one intelligent tool. On the services side, the Engineering Performance Factor (EPF) analysis followed by Check-up Days, both designed to assess a company’s overall engineering productivity level and identify those areas that need improvement, have just been introduced. The next big event will be the kick off of the workflow services for the enclosure manufacturing industry. This will show our customers how they can streamline their processes from the conceptual idea to the finished enclosure with an EPLAN solution embedded in an enterprise IT environment, connected to NC and wire processing machines. That event is slated to take place at the Rockwell Automation Fair in Anaheim on November 11 and 12,” added Mr. Gunkel.
